Yes. People charged with a traffic violation, DWI or criminal offense (disorderly persons offense) shall appear before the Judge in the Franklin Lakes Municipal Court. Disorderly persons offenses are the lowest form of crime in NJ. Examples of a disorderly persons offense include but are not limited to minor possession of marijuana, underage drinking, possession of drug paraphernalia, simple assault or criminal harassment. Convictions for these minor crimes and traffic offenses could have serious consequences including loss of drivers license, jail and a possible criminal record. Significant fines, fees, community service and probation may be imposed.
